Diagnostic Criteria for CIDP 2005

The latest diagnostic criteria were proposed in 2005 by a joint task force of the European Federation of Neurological Societies (EFNS) and the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS). It is based on available evidence in the medical literature and expert consensus. (Joint Task Force of the EFNS and the PNS, 2005; Hughes, 2006)
The EFNS/PNS diagnostic criteria were designed to balance more evenly specificity (which needs to be higher in research than in clinical practice) and sensitivity (which might miss treatable disease if set too high). (Joint Task Force of the EFNS and the PNS, 2005)
