Incidence & Prevalence of CIDP

The disorder can occur at any age (including in children) although most cases occur in adults above the age of 20. It occurs in males almost twice as often as females. (Chio, 2002) The incidence level rises with age. (Lunn, 1999; McLeod, 1999; Mygland, 2001)

The exact prevalence of CIDP is unclear but, in studies performed world-wide, it has been estimated to range from 1.9 per 100,000 to 7.7 per 100,000. (McLeod, 1999; Mygland, 2001)
